So last summer as Janelle and I were driving south on I-15 just north of Salt Lake City we passed a sign for a motel that was called "In Town". I was stunned when I found out that the first word of the name was "in" because the stylized "I" looked like a "U" to me... UnTown
That got us thinking about what it was like for probably some sweet old couple for whom this motel was a lifelong dream and how they probably came up with the name and the logo on their own. Chain reaction, of course was to see what sort of names we would come up if we were going to make a motel.
Inn Town was of course thrown out there pretty quickly, the obvious improvement to an already taken name. Inn & Out was also worth mentioning, but borderline copyright infringement. Then came the most genius of all (and I really can't remember which of us came up with this) basically the awesomest motel name ever: The Out n' About Inn. We laughed again as we drove by today. What a great name for a motel. How could you not stop and stay the night? I would pay to sleep there even if I lived next door. It is that awesome.
