One of my great childhood accomplishments

My grade five teacher, Mrs. McKenzie, was pushing our limits. She ambitiously created a major school project that was designed to help us learn the basics of several different styles of poetry and when we finished our respective poems, each child bound their own poems (and only their own) into a custom-made book. I still have mine. When I think back on school projects that made me happy, few come close to my grade five poetry book. I was plunged into a world I barely knew, and loved stumbling through the creative process using literary guidelines I barely understood.

Which leads me to:
I am going to take up the reins of my poetry once more. Or at least I'm going to plan on it until it becomes too inconvenient (hey, lets be honest, right?). I figure I'm not much more qualified to write poetry now than when I was eleven, so my expectations are only moderately higher. That, I think, makes me even more eager to get started -- I have absolutely nothing to lose. My first undertaking:

A Limerick on Poetry
By Andrew
My task is still new and exciting
with doubts of my skill quite a-frighting.
The back of my mind
is both empty and blind,
but in trying you better your writing.
