As I was about to leave my two houses, I ran back to my temporary home to grab some belongings but found it locked. I was astounded. I checked all the doors, but to no avail. The place was locked up tight like unto a dish and apparently I had left my keys inside (I scoured where I might have left/dropped the keys but could find them no where).
I decided I must have thought I had unlocked the handle without actually unlocking the handle. When the locksmith arrived I explained that it was the lock on the handle, but he quickly corrected me: It was the dead bolt. When he opened it, my keys were inside on the counter, but all the doors in the house were locked with deadbolts.
But how did I lock myself out of the house with the deadbolt when my keys were on the counter? There are only two explanations:
- The lock was haunted and could lock itself at will.
- Using nothing but the power of my mind, I accidentally locked the deadbolt without even knowing it.
