Orem UT -- For those familiar with Provo, you know you're in CougarTown when you see the bold white Y up on the mountain, proudly representing BYU and her hometown heroes, the Cougars. A few days ago, however, Utah Valley State College (UVSC), was granted a new status. It was renamed Utah Valley University. As such, county bylaws guarantee that, as a university, it has the right to add their letter to the beautiful Wasatch Mountains in order to rally students and alumni.
Although "the V" is the new boy in town, he already has big plans for Utah County. Artist's renderings were

released this morning [see image] of the proposed changes for Y mountain's western face. With the new letter looking over our valley, the name of the mountain may also give way. Papers were filed this morning at the Utah County Courthouse to change the name of Y Mountain to "Y & V Mountain."
Community reaction has been mixed to the proposed changes, but all public statements from school and government officials have said that they hope any local changes will only add to the already rich history of the community.
