Who's the genius now?

This past week I was told by an Apple genius that I would need to get $300 worth of "logic board maintenance" for my computer because one of my USB ports wasn't responding. I was sad but resigned myself to the procedure (or at least as soon as I had some money to get it done).

But back at home, whilst I played with my computer's installation DVDs, I saw a link for some sort of hardware test. I reinstalled my system off the disks and then ran the test and passed with flying colours... even the logic board. When I then tried plugging stuff into my USB ports, they worked marvelously.

Turns out that the Apple "Genius" (oh yes I did put that in quotes) may have had his facts a little mixed up. I didn't need $300 worth of computer surgery; I needed 15 minutes reinstalling some software. I felt a little let down by the omniscient/omnipotent Apple Computers Inc., but in the end I am just glad it is all over and my little compy-wompy is feeling better.
