What next? Fake Floss?

One of the reasons I like reading the news is that it sometimes surprises me. I love skimming the headlines when all of a sudden one of them just jumps out at me.

... Israel ... Protesters ... Afghanistan ... Congressional Sub-committee ... iPhone ... Bush ... Ahmadinejad ... Midwest ... Corporations ... Nasdaq ... Counterfeit Toothpaste.

Yeah. This is one of those revelations that may change the way you see the world, so only keep reading if you are prepared for the ghastly truth: There are some people out there who are so innovative and desperate for money they are counterfeiting toothpaste and distributing it throughout the country. (Not only are they selling inferior products, they are selling them at dollar stores. Talk about limiting your profits!)

And the deficient dentifrice has spelling errors all over the packaging. It makes me wonder if this was a spur-of-the-moment idea? Maybe in the heat of the moment there wasn't time for running a spell check? I would rather they make these mistakes since it seems to protect the public. Unfortunately, all their toothpaste-counterfeiting cronies will learn from their mistakes and make a better version next time.

I will never be able to totally trust a tube of paste again. Sure it looks like Colgate Winterfresh Whitening with Plaque Control Microbeads, but maybe it is just hair gel with peppermint extract in a cleverly designed/spellchecked box. How can I be sure? And if that is the case, should I even bother brushing in the first place? Look at what distress these criminals have caused!
